In a bid to bolster security along the Maje border corridor, the Kebbi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, paid a working visit to Tsamiya/Sebgana on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
The delegation, led by Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim, fdc, Customs Area Controller for Kebbi Command, and Major Shola Elijah Moses, Commanding Officer of 1 Battalion Nigerian Army, was warmly received by officers of the Beninese Customs, Kebbi Command personnel, and other stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, Comptroller Ibrahim underscored the importance of synergy between Nigeria and Benin’s security agencies. He emphasized that effective border management requires trust, collaboration, and intelligence sharing. “Security is a collective responsibility,” he noted, stressing that the visit was designed to strengthen cooperation and enhance mutual confidence between the two countries.
Responding, Comptroller of Customs at Wara Border in Benin Republic, Arouna Dramane, hailed the initiative as a welcome development. He conducted the visiting delegation around their facilities for familiarization and assured them of Benin’s continued collaboration in safeguarding the shared frontier.
The visit concluded with an exchange of goodwill and a reaffirmation of commitment by both sides to work hand-in-hand in ensuring peace, security, and the protection of lives and government assets along the Nigeria–Benin border.
