In a heartfelt press briefing marking his first 100 days in office, the Executive Chairman of Orile Agege LCDA, Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu, reflected on a journey defined by reality, resilience, and commitment. Addressing party leaders, councillors, traditional rulers, youth groups, and residents, he expressed gratitude for the community’s support and reaffirmed his pledge to lead with transparency and closeness to the people.
Roads & Infrastructure
The administration has embarked on key projects, including the construction of Bade Abiona Road and the Egbatedo Street drainage project in Papa Ashafa. These initiatives, nearing completion, promise to ease movement and improve community life.
Education
Recognizing education as the ladder out of poverty, the LCDA distributed learning materials to schools, provided 300 GCE forms to youths, and organized a Spelling Bee Competition to nurture confidence and intelligence among students.
Empowerment & Welfare
To cushion economic pressures, the council introduced a 50% food discount programme and launched solar energy and technology training for young people, equipping them with modern skills for employment and innovation.
Health & Well-being
In partnership with the Lions Club, residents benefited from free eye tests, glasses, and medications, a health intervention that touched many households.
The “EASE” Agenda
Looking ahead, Hon. Idowu outlined the administration’s focus on:
– Empowerment: Expanding opportunities for youths and women.
– Access to Quality Education: Ensuring no child is left behind.
– Social Infrastructure & Environment: More roads, health centres, and cleaner neighbourhoods.
– Enhanced Health Services: Stronger primary healthcare and outreach programmes.
Security & Peace
The Chairman emphasized that development cannot thrive without safety. The LCDA will continue to support the Police, LNSC, and community security groups, while promoting peace across religions and cultures.
Celebrating 100 Days
To commemorate this milestone, the LCDA rolled out programmes including a comprehensive health mission, empowerment for women and widows, environmental stakeholder engagements, and vocational skills graduation ceremonies.
Hon. Idowu closed his address with a call for unity and collaboration: “No administration succeeds alone. Governance is stronger when every voice is heard.”
With a blend of gratitude and determination, he assured residents that the next phase of his administration will continue to be marked by transparency, humility, and a genuine desire to improve lives.
