The Executive Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayor Abiodun Jimoh Isola Ejigbadero, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, marked his first 100 days in office with the flag-off of a free medical mission and the launch of a monthly Renewed Hope Cash Transfer Empowerment Initiative at the council secretariat.
Speaking at the well-attended event, the chairman welcomed distinguished guests, traditional rulers, community and religious leaders, political stakeholders, health professionals, members of the press, and residents of the LCDA. He explained that his administration deliberately chose healthcare as the starting point of its 100-day activities, stressing that good governance begins with the protection of life.
According to him, while infrastructure such as roads and schools is important, they are of little value if citizens are not healthy enough to use them. He described the two-day free medical mission as comprehensive and inclusive, designed to serve residents across the council area.
Beneficiaries of the outreach received free screening for non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, as well as cervical and prostate cancer screenings. The programme also featured eye care services with vision assessments and free corrective glasses under the “Jigi Eji” initiative, primary dental care, provision of essential medications, and health education and counseling—all at no cost to participants.
As part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery, Mayor Ejigbadero commissioned a new chemistry analyser to improve diagnostic capacity in primary health centres and also handed over a newly acquired ambulance to enhance emergency response across the LCDA.
In addition to the medical mission, the chairman formally flagged off the Renewed Hope Cash Transfer Empowerment Initiative, a monthly programme targeted at supporting vulnerable residents. Under the scheme, 300 needy residents will receive ₦100,000 each, amounting to a total disbursement of ₦30 million.
Speaking with journalists, the Vice Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Hon. Kehinde Yusau Shobayo, described the programme as part of activities marking the administration’s first 100 days in office. He expressed appreciation to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the initiative aligns with the vision and directives of the party and the President.
Hon. Shobayo emphasized that the administration’s priority is to bring happiness and relief to the people under the leadership of the Chairman. He added that the ongoing cash transfer exercise for the 300 beneficiaries would be completed promptly and disclosed that additional empowerment packages would be introduced by January to further support residents’ welfare.
Residents also benefitted from quality medical care, with ambulance services on standby to attend to emergencies. Hon. Shobayo described the intervention as one of the best of its kind, aimed at improving the overall wellbeing of the people.
Also speaking, the Leader of the House, Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Hon. Giwa Wasiu, said the event was organized to celebrate the 100 days in office of the Chairman, Hon. Abiodun Jimoh Isola Ejigbadero. He reiterated that the administration had made promises to the people and was committed to delivering on them.
He assured residents that the initiative marked only the beginning of more people-oriented programmes, urging beneficiaries to use the financial support wisely, while reaffirming the council’s commitment to and impactful development.
One of the beneficiaries, Seun Ajani expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Chairman and the entire management of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA for introducing these laudable initiatives at such a critical time, noting that the interventions have brought relief, hope, and renewed confidence to many residents.
Mayor Ejigbadero assured residents that the empowerment initiative would be transparent and inclusive, noting that it would be expanded over time to reach more eligible beneficiaries. He explained that beneficiaries are required to present a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) and a National Identification Number (NIN) slip for verification.
The chairman concluded by extending early Christmas and New Year goodwill messages to the people of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA and reaffirmed his commitment to people-centered governance and sustainable development. The event ended with prayers for Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Lagos State, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
