The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State officially ushered in a new era on Friday, inaugurating 36 newly elected members of its State Executive Committee at the party’s secretariat in Ikeja. The new leadership team is tasked with steering the party’s affairs for the next four years.

The ceremony, originally slated for Thursday, was held under a somber cloud following the sudden passing of the party’s Assistant Publicity Secretary, Mr. Karamo Yesiro. Yesiro died on Wednesday, just a day after securing his re-election during the state congress at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Preparing for the 2027 Roadmap
Representing the Chairman of the 2026 APC State Congress Technical Committee, Dr. Adekunle Olayinka highlighted the strategic importance of the day. He noted that the inauguration marks the formal beginning of the party’s journey toward the 2027 general elections.
”Today is very important… they have been saddled with the responsibility of running our party at the state level for another four years. We have confidence in their capacity to ensure electoral success.” — Dr. Adekunle Olayinka
A Call for Absolute Unity
The State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, delivered a firm charge to the new executives, emphasizing that the party is entering a “critical period.” He challenged the leaders to move past internal factions and prioritize the party’s collective identity.
- Dismantling Caucuses: Ojelabi explicitly warned members against participating in internal “groups” or caucuses that could undermine party cohesion.
- Constitutional Adherence: Executives were urged to master the party’s guidelines and maintain close ties with local government leaders.
- Legacy and Continuity: The Chairman stressed the need to consolidate the party’s winning streak in Lagos that dates back to 1999.
Ojelabi also expressed gratitude to national and state leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, for their unwavering commitment to the party’s stability.

The legal Oaths of Office and Allegiance were administered by Mr. Nike Coker. The newly inaugurated committee features a blend of experienced hands and strategic appointments:
