Prophet Godwin Ikuru, the founder of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, has called on Nigerians to prioritize national unity and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as a necessary step toward overcoming the country’s security and economic challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, the cleric condemned the recurring violence in states like Plateau and Benue, while praising the President for fulfilling key campaign promises—such as the student loan scheme and local government autonomy—arguing that collective stability is more vital than political division for Nigeria’s long-term progress.
Addressing the recent surge in insecurity, particularly in the northern regions, Ikuru warned that persistent attacks undermine the nation’s developmental goals. He urged perpetrators to lay down their arms and called upon the Nigerian Air Force to intensify its operations against insurgents. To ensure a more informed public, he also advocated for greater transparency regarding recent military operations in the North that have resulted in significant casualties.
The cleric extended his call for peace to the political sphere, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and major opposition parties, including the PDP and Labour Party, to collaborate in maintaining order. He emphasized that political differences should never supersede the national interest, especially as the country begins to look toward the next election cycle. By fostering a climate of cooperation, Ikuru believes the nation can avoid the divisive rhetoric that often leads to social unrest.
In defense of the current administration’s economic track record, Ikuru argued against blaming the President solely for the rising cost of living and market prices. He noted that Nigeria’s heavy reliance on imported goods makes it vulnerable to global market fluctuations, but maintained that ongoing reforms are necessary for stabilization. He specifically highlighted the removal of the fuel subsidy and new fiscal policies as painful but essential steps toward long-term fiscal health and reduced import dependence.
Looking ahead to 2027, the prophet expressed firm confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, reminding the public that he had accurately predicted the President’s 2023 victory. He concluded by reiterating his belief that the President will secure a second term, provided the nation remains united. Ikuru’s final message urged all citizens to shun divisive actions and work collectively to build a more prosperous and peaceful Nigeria.
