Marking his 35th birthday with a bold entry into formal politics, Hon. Abdulkudus Isah has unveiled a social welfare manifesto aimed at the most vulnerable citizens of the Owan Federal Constituency. The Political Science graduate and businessman stated that his primary motivation for seeking office is to scale up the philanthropic work he has performed privately. Central to his campaign is a promise to provide monthly stipends and free healthcare for every elderly person aged 80 and above.
Isah, who built a successful career in the oil and gas and construction sectors, emphasized his track record of creating millionaires among the youth through his business ventures. He argued that while he has empowered ten individuals with his personal resources, the platform of the House of Representatives would allow him to lift thousands more out of poverty. “I will not teach you what I don’t know,” Isah stated, highlighting his preference for practical economic empowerment over empty rhetoric.
The aspirant is positioning himself as the “youth alternative” to the current political establishment. He leveled sharp criticism at the incumbent representative, Professor Julius Ihonvbere, accusing him of being ineffective despite serving two terms. Isah argued that his youthful energy is essential for a representative to stay connected with the grassroots and understand the modern challenges facing the Owan people.
In a bid to restore faith in the democratic process, Isah expressed concern over voter apathy in his constituency. He noted that many people have become disillusioned with politics, but he hopes his candidacy will inspire them to return to the polls. He pledged to be a man of his word, stating that he only makes promises he is capable of fulfilling, particularly regarding the healthcare and financial needs of senior citizens.
Even in the event of a loss, Isah maintains a collaborative spirit, asserting that he would support whoever wins the election for the sake of the community’s progress. However, he remains optimistic about his 99% chance of success, banking on the support of his community, which historically produces the highest vote counts in the region. He called on other young people to join his mission to transform Owan through a mandate focused on service and shared prosperity.
