COVID-19 9 Brigade supports Ikeja Army cantonment community with water point hand washing machine

The Nigerian Army 9 Brigade has launched a new hand washing water
point machine project at Ikeja Cantonment, Onigbongbo Barracks to support the community during this period of Corona-virus pandemic in the country.

It was a nice outing on Wednesday, when the General officer Commanding
81 division, Major General JO Irefin, alongside the Nigeria Army 9
Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Musa Awal Ndagi, came to
commission the hand washing water point machine for the usefulness of
the community,

According to the project officer, Major NF Echie, he pointed that the
washing device was fabricated to tackle the recent spread of
Corona-virus, and enable the Cantonment community curb the spread of
the virus.

“This hand washing device has one thousand capacity liters of water to
serve the users for the  period of three days.” We have done it in a
way that you don’t need to use your hand to press the water point, you
only need to use your foot to press the tap and both soap and water
will be released without using your hand. Washing your hand regularly
can also protect the masses from COVID-19,” he added.

However, the Army 9 Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Musa Awal
Ndagi also said; with the device in place, it’s our believe that
COVID-19 coming into the Cantonment will stop once everyone comply
with this new water point system. He assured of the leadership of the
Force to enlighten the barrack community to wash their hands 20
seconds as prescribed, affirming that any COVID-19 patient coming to
the cantonment will be stopped at the gate.

The general officer commanding 81 division, Major General JO Irefin
has commended Ikeja cantonment efforts and also urged them to make
sure that at the entrance of all the offices, there should be   a
provision for the water and soap including the sanitizer. He kicked
against officers driving in without stopping at the gate.

He pleaded that all hands must be on deck to support the Federal
Government during the period of COVID-19 pandemic. “Once again i
applaud the Ikeja cantonment for a job well done, Irefin added.
