There’s no doubt that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has really impressed with his start as interim manager at Manchester United.

The Red Devils were sinking under the guidance of Jose Mourinho and had dropped well off the pace in the Premier League this season.

But a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in December saw The Special One sacked and since then, United have been a different beast.

Solskjaer has turned the team back into challengers again and they’ve now won an impressive eight on the bounce.

That run of results included big wins against Tottenham in the league and Arsenal in the FA Cup, which proves just how much has changed at Old Trafford recently.

Of course, with those league wins have come more points and United are now climbing back up the table.

They’re now up to sixth place and level on points with Arsenal in fifth – meaning they’re also just three behind Chelsea, who currently occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.

Solskjaer will no doubt be happy with how his side have dragged themselves back into contention for a spot in Europe’s top competition next season.

And if United win their next league game, which is against Burnley on Tuesday, he’ll have something else to smile about too.

The Red Devils will expect to comfortably beat Burnley at Old Trafford and if they do, Solskjaer will break the current record for the best winning start a manager has made in the Premier League.

To make things even sweeter, it’s Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti who currently hold that record tied on six, so if the baby-faced assassin goes one win better, he’ll be getting one over on his rival.

Of course, Solskjaer probably isn’t thinking about breaking any personal records during his tenure at Man United – he’s just focusing on getting the club back to its best.

But, if he does set a league record on Tuesday and beats Pep, then it will certainly be worth noting.
