Prominent serial entrepreneur and CEO of Bizenol Nigeria Limited, Okikiola Abayomi Oludegun, has officially declared his intention to contest the Ota State Constituency 1 seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly for the 2027 general elections.
Popularly known as “Okiki,” the aspirant made his declaration on Monday during a “Meet the Press” media chat organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun West Chapel, in Ota.
A Vision to Decouple Youths from Transport Unionism
A central pillar of Oludegun’s declaration was his concern over the underutilization of youth potential in Ota. He criticized the current trend where vibrant young people are pushed into transport union activities due to a lack of better options.
“It is worrisome seeing vibrant youths forced into roles that do not reflect their capacity. This trend must be reversed through deliberate policies,” Oludegun stated.
He pledged to sponsor a specific bill aimed at reducing youth dependence on transport unionism by creating pathways to sustainable, skill-based, and rewarding careers.
The Five-Point Legislative Agenda
Oludegun, who cited a “solid political background” within his family, outlined a strategic roadmap designed to transform Ota into a premier economic hub. His proposed legislative focus includes:
- Establishment of an Awori Traditional Council: Preserving and empowering local heritage.
- Youth Empowerment & Job Creation: Implementing initiatives to boost employment.
- Massive Infrastructural Development: Addressing the physical needs of the constituency.
- Industrial Expansion: Leveraging Ota’s position to create a thriving economic engine.
- Enhanced Healthcare & Social Services: Improving the basic quality of life for residents.
Grassroots Governance and Inclusion
To ensure “unprecedented representation,” the aspirant promised a shift toward inclusive governance. He pledged to appoint liaison officers across all eight wards of Ota Constituency 1 to serve as direct links between the government and the people.
“I intend to have liaison officers in each ward to ensure responsive engagement and all-inclusive representation,” he explained, emphasizing that his mission is to uplift lives rather than just hold office.From Humanitarianism to Politics
Oludegun noted that his entry into the 2027 race is a natural extension of his long-standing humanitarian work. He highlighted his history of personal interventions, including paying hospital bills and providing community services, as the foundation for his political ambition.
“The constituency deserves to be in a better state than it is today. My mission is to deliver real development,” he concluded.
With his focus on industrial growth and youth reform, Oludegun’s entry into the race is expected to significantly reshape the political dynamics of Ota as the 2027 election cycle approaches.
