The political atmosphere shifted into high gear during a recent “Meet the Press” session hosted by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun West Independent Chapel. The forum provided a platform for top contenders to pitch their visions for the constituency to the public.
APC Frontrunners: Tradition Meets Grassroots Impact
High Chief Olanrewaju Bashorun, the Seriki of Ota Kingdom, emerged as a prominent figure under the All Progressives Congress (APC) banner. Addressing concerns regarding his traditional status, Bashorun asserted that his title would not impede his legislative duties.
”I have a track record of full-fledged community and human capital development spanning decades, even before nursing any political aspiration,” Bashorun stated.
His key priorities include:
- Infrastructure Revival: Rehabilitating abandoned facilities, specifically the ILO facility and the Igbesa technical school.
- Investment Attraction: Leveraging international business networks to drive economic growth in the constituency.
Also flying the APC flag, Hon. Sodiq Adewale Omotayo emphasized that representation must move beyond rhetoric to tangible results. He pledged to focus on:

On the opposition side, Engr. Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo, a UK-trained engineer seeking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket, presented a reformist agenda. She dismissed the challenges of running as an opposition candidate, focusing instead on systemic change.
