…Ag. Comptroller Farouk Nadaniya Undertakes Inter-Agency Familiarization Tour to Boost Operational Efficiency and Security Collaboration

In a major move to fortify inter-agency synergy and enhance operational effectiveness, the newly appointed Acting Comptroller of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘C’, Owerri, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Farouk Nadaniya, has embarked on a series of familiarization visits to heads of security agencies across Imo State. The tour, which commenced on Friday, October 16, 2026, forms part of strategic efforts to foster cordial relationships, strengthen security collaboration, and combat economic sabotage and criminality across the South-East and South-South zones.

During his visit to the Imo State Police Command, DC Nadaniya solicited a unity of purpose, emphasizing that combating smuggling and ensuring national security is a collective responsibility. Welcoming the Customs chief, the Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Audu Boss, commended the initiative and urged the unit to work closely with existing security networks. CP Boss noted that as federal institutions tasked with protecting lives and property, continuous synergy remains critical in tackling insurgency and emerging threats within the state.

At the Department of State Services (DSS) Imo State Command, the Director, Mr. Godwin Uche Dunkwu, highlighted the harmonious working relationships among military and paramilitary forces in the state despite their distinct statutory mandates. Reassuring the Acting Comptroller of maximum cooperation, Dunkwu pledged to sustain the robust support and operational backing previously extended to the unit’s leadership to ensure seamless intelligence sharing.
The familiarization tour extended to the 511 Quick Response Group of the Nigerian Air Force Base in Owerri, where the Commander, Air Commodore SP Sekego, invited DC Nadaniya to actively integrate into the state’s security framework. Sekego pointed to recent achievements, such as the successful rescue of kidnapped NYSC members, as proof of what joint security operations can accomplish when agencies work with a singular objective.
Continuing his engagements at the Headquarters of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, DC Nadaniya was received by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General A. Ahmed. Reinforcing the theme of unity, General Ahmed underscored the necessity of sustained inter-agency coordination to effectively address local security challenges. Similarly, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Imo State Command, who was also newly posted to the state, expressed his readiness to build a strong partnership with the new Customs leadership.
The familiarization tour concluded on an optimistic note, with the heads of the various security organizations reaffirming their commitment to joint operations and peace-building initiatives. Reflecting on the outcome of the engagements, Public Relations Officer Chief Superintendent of Customs Rose Nche noted on behalf of the Acting Comptroller that the visits have laid a solid foundation for enhanced cooperation and greater stability across the unit’s area of jurisdictions.
