OYO/OSUN AREA COMMAND WELCOMES NEW ACTING CONTROLLER

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Oyo/Osun Area Command, has witnessed a smooth change in leadership with the appointment of Deputy Comptroller of Customs Moses Wale Adewole as the Acting Customs Area Controller. This follows the redeployment of the former Controller, Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu, to the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A, Lagos.
During the handing-over ceremony, Deputy Comptroller Adewole expressed sincere appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, fnipr, psc (+), PhD, and the Management of the Service for entrusting him with the responsibility. He described the new role as an opportunity to serve at a higher level and reaffirmed his commitment to professionalism, accountability, discipline, and collective teamwork in driving the objectives of the Service.
The Acting Controller paid tribute to his predecessor for laying a strong foundation through notable achievements in revenue generation, enforcement activities, and stakeholder relations. He assured officers, stakeholders, and partners that his leadership would build on these achievements while pursuing improved performance across all operational areas.
He further highlighted key focus areas of his administration, including efficient and transparent revenue processes, strengthened enforcement against smuggling through inter-agency cooperation, regular training and welfare support for officers, reinforcement of ethical standards, and sustained engagement with traditional authorities, business operators, importers, exporters, and other stakeholders within Oyo and Osun States.
In his address, the outgoing Area Controller, Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu, reflected on his time in office as productive and rewarding. He emphasized the positive working relationship established with the governments and residents of Oyo and Osun States, the effective collaboration with sister security agencies, and the consistent interaction with traditional rulers across the Command’s jurisdiction.
Comptroller Aliyu noted that the Command recorded significant improvement in revenue performance through strengthened compliance measures, structured engagements with excise manufacturers, and the adoption of the B’odogwu Unified Customs Management System. He also commended the dedication and professionalism of officers and men of the Command, which resulted in successful enforcement operations and enhanced protection of the national economy.
The former Controller encouraged his successor to continue investing in capacity development, strengthen engagement with border communities, and ensure the completion of the Command’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative — the proposed Solar-Powered Healthcare Centre in Iragbiji.
The event concluded with goodwill messages and a renewed pledge by officers and men of the Command to uphold service excellence, ensure operational continuity, and support the vision of the Nigeria Customs Service.
