The Benue State police command has rescued 6 victims of kidnapping and busted an armed robbery syndicate in Makurdi the State capital.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Benue State Command DSP Udeme Edet said 20th November 2025, at about 1830hrs, the Command received a distress call regarding a reported stolen Bajaj motorcycle tracked to a compound along George Akume Way, Makurdi.

Police patrol teams arrived at the scene and discovered a large gathering of youths.
Upon entry into the premises, eleven (11) suspected stolen motorcycles, forty-seven (47) motorcycle seats, fuel tanks, criminal charms, three (3) mattresses, One (1) single-barrel firearm, and other items were recovered.

Two suspects escape but were captured by members of the public opposite the BIPC Company along George Akume Way and lynched before the arrival of the police.
They were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Wadata, where they were confirmed dead by a doctor.
Their remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary.
The State CID has taken over the investigation.
The police command also arrested suspected child traffickers and rescued Six Victims
“On 20th November 2025, at about 1705hrs, operatives on patrol along the Orokam–Enugu Road intercepted a suspicious vehicle and arrested three female suspects, One Mrs. Monica Okonkwo 57 yrs, One Nkiru Nwosu 55 yrs, and One Oyechele Francisca 57 yrs, all of Umude Oka Dunukofia, Anambra State.”she added
The suspects were found in transit with six children, namely:
*Amanda Chukwujekwu F, 8yrs
*Chioma Maduagwu F, 8yrs
*Oyechegi Kosisochukwu F, 9yrs
*Okonkwo Odinaka Chukwu F, 9yrs
*Arinze Chukwu M, 7yrs
*Oluchukwu Esther F, 9yrs
Preliminary investigations revealed that the children were taken from Divine Peace and Grace Orphanage, Jos, Plateau State, under questionable circumstances, with the suspects claiming they were being transported to Anambra State.
The children have been successfully rescued and are under protective care, while the suspects are in custody as investigations continue at the State CID
The Commissioner of Police CP Ifeanyi Emenari PhD, psc,mnips strongly condemns all forms of mob action, describing it as a dangerous trend that obstructs justice, violates fundamental human rights, and sabotages Police investigations.
He urges the public to always report and hand over suspects to lawful authorities.
The Command remains steadfast in its mission to protect lives and property across Benue State and will continue to update the public as investigations progress.
