The Presidential Community Engagement Office, in partnership with Nestlé, OPS-WASH, ActionAid, and the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), has launched an Access to Water and Water Quality Project in the South-West and North-Central regions of Nigeria.
Announced during a stakeholders’ breakfast meeting on August 28, 2024, in Abuja, this initiative will address water scarcity and contamination in communities like Agbara, Adedigba, Ilashe, Odan, Ilupeju, Ilaniro, Korogboji, and Totowu. These areas will benefit from state-of-the-art, solar-powered boreholes and advanced water treatment facilities to ensure access to clean, safe drinking water.
Moremi Ojudu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (Southwest), expressed optimism about the project, stating, “We are set to install state-of-the-art boreholes and water treatment facilities. As we align our efforts with the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda to enhance water access and improve water quality in the communities, I look forward to the positive impact this initiative will have on our communities.”
Dr. Nicholas Igwe from OPS-WASH praised the collaboration, highlighting the critical role of government support in such initiatives.
This project reflects the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sustainable development and improving the well-being of Nigerians.
