Subsidy Removal: Prophet Ikuru distributes ‘Fuel Palliative ‘ to Surulere motorists in Lagos

The General Overseer of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, Prophet Godwin Ikuru, on Wednesday distributed free fuel at a filling station to motorists in Surulere local government area of Lagos state.

According to the Cleric, the gesture was to consolidate the effort of government in addressing the side effect of the fuel subsidy removal policy.

The beneficiaries of the Fuel Palliative are tricycle operators, motorcycle operators, commercial bus drivers and private car owners.

Ikuru stated that he came up with the initiative as a result of his love for the government and the people, adding that he believes the people need to be helped most especially during economic hardship.

Prophet added that he believes in supporting the downtrodden, adding that easy transportation was one of the major ways the people can be helped.

” I know that the people need the petrol so much at this period, so, what I am doing is to help them to have it with ease as palliative. I am not doing it to seek favour from government or anybody and I will continue to do it because my love for the people is greater than the love for the government”, said Ikuru.

He explained that the beneficiaries were not discriminated and that there was no Political party, ethnic or religious affiliation to the initiative.

” It is a pure heart. We give everybody regardless of your tribe, religion and sentiment. We are created by God, so we must help every human.

Ikuru disclosed that the fuel palliative would be extended beyond Lagos, adding that he was targeting 120 million Nigerians across the country.

” We are targeting over 120 million Nigerians across the six geopolitical zones. It will not be limited to Lagos, we would be distributing the fuel palliative in other states of the federation. The fuel palliative distribution is like the gospel that must preached across the country, and I have taken it upon myself to do.

Meanwhile, one of the beneficiaries, Issac Stephen, appreciated the Prophet, saying that it was a gesture that should be emulated by many philanthropists in Nigeria.

Stephen, who rides commercial motorcycle, said that having gotten free fuel, he would have enough to save after work of the day.

Another beneficiary who drives Tricycle, Ahmed Olayinka, thanked the Prophet also for the gesture, urging the government to reduce pump price.

Olayinka said that he never thought he could benefit from the fuel palliative not until he approached the dispensing pump, adding that he felt it would be for only Christians.

The fuel palliative distribution was applauded by many residents of Surulere who called on well meaning Nigerians to consolidate the effort of government in ameliorating the pains emanated from the fuel subsidy removal.
